Reputation Management

“65% of Internet users see online search as the most trusted source of information about people and companies. That’s a higher level of trust than any other online or offline source.”- 2014 Edelman Trust Barometer

What is Reputation Management?

After the Volkswagon emissions scandal and a few other recent corporate incidents, reputation management has been in the media and on the minds of many business owners. Sometimes referred to as online reputation management or ORM, reputation management is the practice of attempting to shape public perception of a person or organization by influencing online information about that entity.

Managing your online brand presence is a critical factor in how you are viewed in the digital world.

The first step is monitoring references to the person or business, primarily through social media monitoring and carefully crafted search queries. This information creates a snapshot of current public opinion of the person or business and then, if necessary, a campaign can be designed to address any problematic issues that have been revealed.

Reputation management campaigns may be conducted to increase the visibility of positive opinions or to decrease the visibility of negative opinions.
