Common Mistakes with SEO Copywriting
When you write SEO copy, you should take the time to find out what works and what doesn’t. Karon Thackston, in this Search Engine Guide article, points out the most common mistakes almost every amateur search engine copywriter makes.
- The List – Many SEO copywriters will drop all their keyword phrases into a list, using it over and over again through the copy. Not only does it stop the copy from flowing, it also gets very repetitive, turning off the reader. Ms. Thackston suggests breaking up the keyword phrases, giving each it’s own section while peppering the main phrase throughout the page.
- Substituting Generic Terms for Keyword Phrases – While this technique works in moderation, replacing all the generic terms with keyword phrases can make the copy sound odd. Make sure that your use of keyword phrases isn’t taking away from the user experience.
SEO Copywriting should always make sense to both the user and the search engines. Don’t sacrifice quality for keyword quantity. For more information on SEO Copywriting Services and other resources on SEO, visit Ten Golden Rules.
