Google Launches Google Checkout
Google, one of the largest and most popular search engines, who have launched innovative web solutions like Google AdWords and Froogle, has added one more service to the e-commerce landscape, Google Checkout. Designed to make online shopping easier, Google Checkout allows users to create one account and password to use across the World Wide Web with participating merchants on the Google Checkout with Google Checkout program. Additionally, Google Checkout offers to protect shoppers from unauthorized use of their account.
But what does this mean for merchants? What is the advantage of participating in Google Checkout?
First off, Google is offering Google Checkout for free for merchants that are participating in their Google Adwords program. For every $1 you spend on AdWords, you can process $10 in sales for free. If you don’t use Adwords, Google Checkout only charges a low 2% and $0.20 per transaction. Google Checkout provides a fast, secure checkout process, offering fraud protection tools to stop invalid orders and a payment guarantee to protect you from chargebacks. Additionally, if you use Adwords, a Google Checkout badge will be displayed with your ads to help consumers find your store more easily.
Additional Note: Google Checkout isn’t a PayPal competitor…it won’t actually process your merchant transactions.
